Abstract
Cancer remains a significant health concern worldwide, with conventional chemotherapy often causing systemic toxicity and limited efficacy due to lack of tumor specificity. The development of a novel drug delivery system for targeted cancer therapy aims to address these challenges by enhancing drug delivery to cancer cells while minimizing adverse effects on healthy tissues. This thesis presents a comprehensive study on the design, development, and evaluation of a novel drug delivery system tailored for targeted cancer therapy. Chapter One provides an introduction to the project, highlighting the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definition of key terms. The literature review in Chapter Two explores existing drug delivery systems, cancer types, targeted therapy approaches, and relevant technologies. Chapter Three details the research methodology, including the selection of materials, formulation development, characterization techniques, in vitro and in vivo studies, and statistical analysis. Chapter Four presents the discussion of findings, encompassing the evaluation of the developed drug delivery system in terms of drug loading capacity, release kinetics, cellular uptake, cytotoxicity, and targeting efficiency. The results of this study reveal the potential of the novel drug delivery system to improve the therapeutic index of anticancer drugs by specifically targeting cancer cells while minimizing off-target effects.
