Cancer remains one of the most challenging diseases to treat, with conventional chemotherapy often causing severe side effects due to lack of specificity in targeting cancer cells. In recent years, there has been a growing interest in developing novel drug delivery systems for targeted cancer therapy. This thesis focuses on the development of such systems to enhance the efficacy and reduce the side effects of cancer treatment. Chapter 1 provides an introduction to the research topic, discussing the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance of the study, structure of the thesis, and definition of terms. The need for targeted drug delivery systems in cancer therapy is emphasized, highlighting the potential benefits in terms of improved treatment outcomes and reduced toxicity. Chapter 2 presents a comprehensive literature review on drug delivery systems for cancer therapy. Ten key aspects are discussed, including the types of drug delivery systems, mechanisms of targeting cancer cells, challenges in current cancer treatment approaches, and recent advancements in the field.
