Abstract
This thesis aimed to investigate the drug utilization patterns and adherence to treatment guidelines in a community pharmacy setting. The study was motivated by the importance of understanding how medications are being used in the community, and whether they align with established treatment guidelines. The research methodology involved a comprehensive review of literature to establish the current knowledge in this area, followed by the collection and analysis of data from a sample of community pharmacies. The findings of this study shed light on the various factors influencing drug utilization patterns and guideline adherence, including patient demographics, prescriber habits, and pharmacy practices. The discussion in Chapter Four delves into the implications of these findings for healthcare providers, policymakers, and patients, emphasizing the need for interventions to improve medication management in the community. The conclusion summarizes the key insights gained from this research and offers recommendations for future studies and practical applications in the field of pharmacy practice. Ultimately, this thesis contributes to the growing body of knowledge on drug utilization patterns and treatment guideline adherence, with potential implications for enhancing patient care and medication safety in community pharmacy settings.
