This study addresses the escalating pressures exerted by visitors on heritage sites within the archaeology-tourism nexus, focusing on how physical and perceptual interactions shape site condition, conservation challenges, and visitor experience. The problem centers on a lack of integrated empirical evidence linking visitor behaviors, environmental degradation indicators, and interpretive management across multiple heritage contexts. The aim is to quantify direct and indirect impacts of tourism on archaeological landscapes and to evaluate mitigation strategies through an empirically grounded, theory-driven approach.
