The rapid proliferation of mobile technology and its integration into educational contexts has garnered significant interest, particularly concerning its potential to enhance adult learning outcomes. Despite widespread adoption of mobile learning applications (m-learning apps), there remains limited empirical evidence delineating their actual impact on adult educational attainment, especially within diverse socio-economic and demographic groups. This study aims to assess the influence of mobile learning applications on the educational progress of adults engaged in continuing education programs, with specific objectives of evaluating learners' engagement levels, academic performance, and self-directed learning skills facilitated through m-learning platforms. Utilizing a mixed-methods research design, the quantitative component adopts a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest control group approach to compare adult learners exposed to mobile learning interventions with those engaged in traditional face-to-face learning. The qualitative component involves semi-structured interviews to explore learners’ perceptions and experiences with mobile learning applications. The target population comprises adult learners enrolled in continuing education centers within a metropolitan city, totaling approximately 400 individuals. A stratified sampling method ensures representation across age, gender, educational background, and socio-economic status, resulting in a sample of 200 participants for the quantitative analysis, with 50 participants purposively selected for in-depth interviews. Data collection instrumentalities include standardized achievement tests, engagement questionnaires adapted from the Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ), and a custom-designed mobile learning usability survey. The study advances understanding of the strategic integration of m-learning tools in adult education settings, emphasizing personalized, accessible, and flexible learning pathways. The main conclusion posits that mobile learning applications significantly enhance adult educational attainment when appropriately designed and implemented, especially when supporting self-motivation and technological competency. Based on the findings, the study recommends policies encouraging the integration of mobile learning platforms within adult education curricula, with emphasis on user-friendly interfaces and capacity-building initiatives for digital literacy. To further advance this line of inquiry, future research should explore longitudinal impacts, scalability, and the role of social learning components within mobile learning ecosystems. Overall, this investigation provides practical and theoretical insights to inform policymakers, educators, and developers committed to leveraging mobile technology for inclusive adult lifelong learning.
