The rapid globalization and urbanization processes have significantly threatened the survival of indigenous cultural practices, customs, and artifacts, necessitating sustainable strategies for their preservation within local communities. This study addresses the pressing need to develop, implement, and evaluate community-driven cultural preservation initiatives that can effectively maintain intangible and tangible cultural heritage in contemporary socio-economic contexts. The primary aim is to design culturally sensitive conservation programs that empower communities and assess their impact on cultural sustainability. The specific objectives include identifying key cultural elements at risk of extinction, developing community-based intervention models rooted in participatory approaches, and evaluating the effectiveness of these initiatives in fostering cultural resilience and community cohesion. Employing a mixed-methods research design, the study integrates qualitative exploratory and participatory action research components with quantitative evaluation techniques. The population comprises 15 culturally diverse communities within the region, with a total population of approximately 20,000 residents. A stratified random sampling technique was employed to select 300 community members, including elders, cultural practitioners, youth representatives, and local leaders, ensuring comprehensive stakeholder engagement. The main conclusion underscores that community involvement and cultural contextualization are vital to the success and sustainability of preservation initiatives. Based on the findings, recommendations encompass adopting participatory frameworks for cultural programming, integrating traditional knowledge into formal educational curricula, and fostering partnerships between local communities, government agencies, and NGOs to ensure resource mobilization and policy support. The study further advocates for ongoing monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to adapt initiatives to changing socio-cultural landscapes. Future research is suggested to explore longitudinal impacts of community-led cultural preservation efforts and to adapt the model across different cultural settings, aiming to inform best practices and policy formulations aimed at safeguarding cultural heritage amidst rapid societal transformations.
