Abstract
The integration of science and computer science in the junior secondary school curriculum presents a unique educational challenge when it comes to identifying difficult teaching topics. This research project aims to explore and identify the specific topics within these subject areas that are particularly challenging for students in order to inform instructional strategies and curriculum development. By examining the curriculum requirements and considering the cognitive development of junior secondary school students, this study will use a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods to gather data on student performance and perceptions of difficulty. The research will involve conducting surveys and interviews with both students and teachers to gather insights into which topics are perceived as difficult or challenging. Additionally, student performance data on assessments related to integrated science and computer science will be analyzed to identify patterns of difficulty across different topics. By triangulating data from multiple sources, this study seeks to provide a comprehensive overview of the most challenging teaching topics within these subject areas. The findings of this research will have implications for curriculum planning, instructional design, and teacher training in the context of integrated science and computer science education at the junior secondary school level. By identifying the specific topics that students struggle with the most, educators can tailor their teaching strategies to address these challenges more effectively. This research also aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of the cognitive processes involved in learning these subjects and how they can be better supported in the classroom. Overall, this research project addresses an important gap in the existing literature by focusing specifically on the identification of difficult teaching topics in integrated science and computer science within the junior secondary school curriculum.
