Thesis Abstract
Abstract
The integration of educational technology in lifelong learning holds significant promise for fostering sustainable development. This research explores the potential of leveraging educational technology to enhance lifelong learning opportunities and promote sustainable development goals. The study examines the role of digital tools, online resources, and innovative learning platforms in providing accessible, flexible, and personalized learning experiences for individuals of all ages and backgrounds. By enabling continuous skill development, knowledge acquisition, and capacity building, educational technology can empower learners to adapt to changing societal and economic challenges. Furthermore, the research investigates the impact of educational technology on promoting sustainability through education. By incorporating themes of environmental awareness, social responsibility, and economic development into digital learning resources, educational technology can raise awareness and promote action towards sustainable practices. Through interactive simulations, virtual reality experiences, and gamified learning modules, learners can engage with complex sustainability concepts in immersive and meaningful ways, fostering a deeper understanding and commitment to sustainable behaviors. The study also addresses the potential challenges and barriers to implementing educational technology for lifelong learning and sustainable development. Issues such as digital divide, technological literacy, and data privacy concerns must be carefully considered to ensure equitable access and ethical use of educational technology. Additionally, the research explores best practices and strategies for designing inclusive and effective educational technology solutions that cater to diverse learning needs and preferences. Overall, this research contributes to the growing body of knowledge on the intersection of educational technology, lifelong learning, and sustainable development. By highlighting the transformative potential of digital tools in expanding learning opportunities and fostering sustainable mindsets, this study advocates for the integration of educational technology as a key enabler of lifelong learning for sustainable development. Through collaborative partnerships between educators, policymakers, and technology developers, innovative solutions can be co-created to address global challenges and empower individuals to become lifelong learners and agents of positive change in their communities.
Thesis Overview

INTRODUCTION

The paper discussed the concepts educational technology, lifelong learning and sustainable development in detail. The paper also described how instructional media and technologies can be employed to facilitate lifelong learning, and by implication, sustainable development. Some challenges facing the use of educational technology for lifelong learning and sustainable development have been pointed out. The paper concludes with recommendations such as: the fiscal provision for instructional facilities in educational institutions should be increased so that the technology needs of the institutions can be adequately met, and government should organize technology awareness seminars and workshops for educators on how to overcome techno-phobia.
