Thesis Abstract
The preservation of religious practices and cultural heritage faces considerable challenges amid the rapid digital transformation and shifting socio-cultural dynamics, risking the loss of intangible religious traditions rooted in oral, performative, and community-based practices. This study aims to develop a comprehensive virtual preservation model through digital archiving that ensures sustainable documentation, access, and dissemination of diverse religious practices. The specific objectives include (1) to analyze the current state of digital archiving efforts within religious communities, (2) to identify technological and cultural factors influencing effective digital preservation, and (3) to design and validate a scalable virtual archiving framework tailored for religious practices. Employing a mixed-methods research design, the study integrates qualitative explorations with quantitative validation. The qualitative phase involves semi-structured interviews with 30 key stakeholders, including religious leaders, cultural archivists, and digital technologists from five diverse religious communities, complemented by focus groups comprising 60 community members.
