Abstract
This thesis explores the impact of e-government services on citizen engagement in public administration. In recent years, the advancement of technology has transformed the way governments interact with citizens, leading to the emergence of e-government services as a means to enhance public service delivery and citizen participation. The study aims to investigate how the adoption of e-government services influences citizen engagement in public administration, with a focus on its benefits, challenges, and implications. The research methodology employed a mixed-method approach, combining both quantitative and qualitative data collection techniques. A comprehensive literature review was conducted to examine existing studies on e-government services, citizen engagement, and public administration. The findings from the literature review informed the development of a structured questionnaire and interview guide used to collect data from a sample of citizens and public administrators. The results of the study revealed that the adoption of e-government services has a significant positive impact on citizen engagement in public administration. Citizens reported increased access to government information, improved service delivery, and enhanced communication with government agencies through online platforms. Public administrators highlighted the benefits of e-government services in streamlining administrative processes, reducing paperwork, and increasing transparency and accountability. However, the study also identified several challenges associated with the implementation of e-government services, including digital divide issues, data privacy concerns, and resistance to change among citizens and public administrators. These challenges underscore the importance of addressing digital literacy, cybersecurity, and organizational culture in the successful adoption of e-government services to enhance citizen engagement in public administration. In conclusion, this thesis contributes to the existing literature by providing insights into the impact of e-government services on citizen engagement in public administration. The findings highlight the potential of e-government services to transform the relationship between government and citizens, leading to more efficient and responsive public services. Recommendations for policymakers include investing in digital infrastructure, promoting digital literacy, and fostering a culture of innovation to harness the full benefits of e-government services for enhancing citizen engagement in public administration.
