This thesis investigates the role of e-government platforms in enhancing citizen engagement within local governments. The study aims to address the challenges faced by traditional government-citizen interactions by exploring the potential benefits of digital platforms in improving communication, participation, and transparency. Through a comprehensive literature review, the research identifies key factors influencing citizen engagement in e-government initiatives and examines best practices from around the world. The methodology involves a mixed-methods approach, combining surveys, interviews, and case studies to gather data from both government officials and citizens. The findings reveal that e-government platforms have the potential to significantly enhance citizen engagement by providing convenient access to information and services, enabling active participation in decision-making processes, and fostering a sense of transparency and accountability. However, the study also highlights various challenges and limitations, such as digital divide issues, privacy concerns, and bureaucratic resistance. The discussion section offers recommendations for local governments looking to implement or improve their e-government initiatives, emphasizing the importance of user-centered design, continuous evaluation, and strategic communication strategies.
