Thesis Abstract
Trade unions play a significant role in shaping the relationship between workers and their organizations. This research project aims to explore the impact of trade unions on workers' commitment and organizational productivity. The study will investigate how the presence of a trade union influences the level of commitment among workers towards their organization. Additionally, the research will analyze the effect of trade unions on enhancing or inhibiting organizational productivity. The relationship between trade unions, workers' commitment, and organizational productivity is complex and multifaceted. Trade unions act as representatives of workers, negotiating with management on various employment issues such as wages, working conditions, and benefits. By doing so, trade unions can influence the level of job satisfaction and commitment among workers. When workers feel that their interests are being advocated for and protected by a trade union, they may be more likely to demonstrate higher levels of commitment to their organization. Moreover, trade unions can also impact organizational productivity through their collective bargaining power. By negotiating for better working conditions, fair wages, and improved benefits, trade unions can contribute to a more motivated and satisfied workforce. This, in turn, can lead to increased productivity and efficiency within the organization. On the other hand, conflicts between trade unions and management can result in disruptions to work processes, affecting productivity negatively. The research project will employ a mixed-methods approach to investigate the impact of trade unions on workers' commitment and organizational productivity. Quantitative surveys will be used to gather data on workers' perceptions of trade unions, their level of commitment to the organization, and their perceived productivity levels. Additionally, qualitative interviews with trade union representatives, management personnel, and workers will provide in-depth insights into the dynamics of the relationship between trade unions, workers, and organizational productivity. The findings of this research project are expected to contribute to the existing literature on trade unions, workers' commitment, and organizational productivity. By shedding light on the interplay between these factors, the study aims to provide valuable information for organizations, trade unions, and policymakers. Ultimately, the research findings may help in informing strategies and policies aimed at enhancing workers' commitment and organizational productivity in the context of trade union presence.
