Public-private partnerships (PPPs) have emerged as a popular strategy for addressing complex urban challenges and advancing sustainable development goals. This thesis aims to evaluate the effectiveness of PPPs in advancing sustainable development goals in urban areas. The study focuses on the role of PPPs in promoting sustainability, economic growth, social equity, and environmental protection in urban settings. The research begins with an exploration of the theoretical framework underpinning PPPs and sustainable development goals. It examines the evolution of PPPs, their characteristics, and the potential benefits and challenges associated with their implementation in urban areas. The literature review delves into existing studies on PPPs, sustainable development, and urban governance to provide a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter. Methodologically, a mixed-methods approach is employed to gather and analyze data. Quantitative data is collected through surveys and statistical analysis to assess the impact of PPPs on sustainable development indicators. Qualitative data is gathered through interviews and case studies to provide insights into the practical implementation of PPP projects in urban areas. The findings of the study reveal the varying degrees of effectiveness of PPPs in different urban contexts. While some PPP projects have successfully contributed to sustainable development goals by fostering innovation, efficiency, and stakeholder collaboration, others have faced challenges related to accountability, transparency, and social inclusion.
