In the contemporary era of digital transformation, the integration of electronic government (e-government) services has emerged as a pivotal tool for enhancing citizen engagement in local governments. This research project delves into the analysis of how the implementation of e-government services influences citizen engagement within the realm of local governance. Through an extensive review of literature, this study examines the theoretical frameworks and empirical evidence surrounding e-government services and their impact on citizen engagement in the local government context. The research methodology employed in this study involves a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative data collection methods to provide a comprehensive analysis. The first chapter of the thesis sets the stage by introducing the research topic and providing a background of the study. It also outlines the problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure, and definition of terms relevant to the research. The second chapter presents a thorough literature review consisting of ten critical components that explore existing studies, models, and theories related to e-government services and citizen engagement in local governments. Chapter three outlines the research methodology, detailing the research design, data collection methods, sampling techniques, data analysis procedures, and ethical considerations. This chapter also discusses the selection of study participants and the development of research instruments. In chapter four, the findings of the research are analyzed and discussed in detail, highlighting the key insights and implications derived from the data collected. The concluding chapter, chapter five, presents a summary of the research findings and their implications for local governance and citizen engagement. The study concludes by offering recommendations for policymakers, local government officials, and other stakeholders to enhance the effectiveness of e-government services in promoting citizen engagement. This research contributes to the existing body of knowledge by providing valuable insights into the impact of e-government services on citizen engagement in local governments and offers practical recommendations for improving governance practices through technology-driven initiatives.
