Abstract
This thesis examines the impact of e-government services on citizen engagement and participation in local governance. E-government refers to the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) by government agencies to improve the delivery of public services and enhance citizen participation in the decision-making processes. In recent years, the adoption of e-government services has become increasingly prevalent in local governance as a means to promote transparency, efficiency, and citizen empowerment. The study begins with a comprehensive review of the literature on e-government services, citizen engagement, and participation in local governance. It explores the theoretical framework underpinning the relationship between e-government services and citizen engagement, highlighting the potential benefits and challenges associated with the use of ICTs in governance processes. Methodologically, the research employs a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative data collection methods. Surveys and interviews are conducted to gather insights from both government officials and citizens regarding their perceptions and experiences with e-government services. Data analysis techniques such as thematic analysis and statistical analysis are utilized to identify patterns and trends in the data. The findings of the study reveal the various ways in which e-government services impact citizen engagement and participation in local governance.
