Abstract
Virtual reality (VR) has emerged as a promising tool in rehabilitation settings, offering innovative approaches to improve physical function in stroke patients. This meta-analysis study aims to investigate the impact of VR rehabilitation on the physical function of stroke patients by synthesizing existing research findings. The research methodology involved a systematic review of relevant literature, selection of eligible studies, data extraction, and statistical analysis. A total of X studies were included in the analysis, comprising stroke patients who underwent VR rehabilitation interventions. The meta-analysis revealed a significant positive effect of VR rehabilitation on various aspects of physical function, including balance, mobility, upper limb function, and activities of daily living. Subgroup analyses based on intervention duration, frequency, and type of VR technology used provided additional insights into the effectiveness of VR rehabilitation in stroke patients. Furthermore, the study explored potential moderators and mediators of the relationship between VR rehabilitation and physical function outcomes. The findings indicate that VR rehabilitation holds promise as an effective intervention for improving physical function in stroke patients, with implications for clinical practice and future research directions. This meta-analysis contributes to the growing body of evidence supporting the use of VR technology in stroke rehabilitation and underscores the importance of leveraging innovative approaches to enhance patient outcomes in rehabilitation settings.
