Thesis Abstract

Abstract
Stroke is a leading cause of disability worldwide, often resulting in impairments in balance and gait. Traditional rehabilitation methods have limitations in addressing these issues comprehensively. Virtual reality (VR) technology has emerged as a promising tool in stroke rehabilitation, offering immersive and interactive environments to enhance motor learning and functional recovery. This study aims to investigate the impact of VR rehabilitation on balance and gait in stroke patients through a comparative analysis with conventional therapy. The study will be conducted as a randomized controlled trial involving stroke patients with balance and gait impairments. Participants will be assigned to either a VR rehabilitation group or a conventional therapy group. The VR rehabilitation group will undergo sessions using a VR system specifically designed for balance and gait training, while the conventional therapy group will receive standard physical therapy interventions. The interventions will be carried out over a specified period, with pre- and post-assessment measures conducted to evaluate changes in balance and gait parameters. The literature review will explore the existing evidence on the effectiveness of VR technology in stroke rehabilitation, focusing on its potential benefits for balance and gait training. The research methodology will detail the study design, participant recruitment criteria, intervention protocols, outcome measures, and data analysis techniques. The discussion of findings will present the results of the comparative analysis, highlighting any significant improvements in balance and gait outcomes between the two groups. The significance of this study lies in its potential to contribute to the growing body of research on innovative rehabilitation approaches for stroke patients. By examining the impact of VR technology on balance and gait, this study aims to provide valuable insights into the effectiveness of VR-based interventions in improving functional outcomes in stroke survivors. The findings may have implications for clinical practice, informing the development of tailored rehabilitation programs that incorporate VR technology to enhance recovery outcomes. In conclusion, the study seeks to shed light on the benefits of VR rehabilitation for stroke patients with balance and gait impairments, offering a comparative perspective on its effectiveness in improving functional mobility. By bridging the gap between technology and rehabilitation, this research endeavors to advance the field of stroke rehabilitation and pave the way for more personalized and engaging interventions for individuals recovering from stroke-related disabilities.
