Thesis Abstract

Abstract
This comparative study investigates the effectiveness of virtual reality (VR) rehabilitation in enhancing balance and gait among stroke patients. Stroke survivors often experience impairments in balance and gait, leading to reduced independence and quality of life. The integration of VR technology in rehabilitation has shown promise in providing engaging and task-specific interventions to address these challenges. This research aims to compare the outcomes of traditional physiotherapy interventions with VR-based rehabilitation programs on balance and gait parameters in stroke patients. The study will involve a sample of stroke patients who will be randomly assigned to either a traditional physiotherapy group or a VR rehabilitation group. Various balance and gait assessments will be conducted before and after the intervention period to evaluate the effectiveness of each approach. The VR rehabilitation group will engage in interactive exercises and simulations designed to improve balance, coordination, and functional mobility in a virtual environment. The traditional physiotherapy group will receive standard physical therapy sessions targeting similar outcomes. The research methodology will employ quantitative measures to assess changes in balance and gait parameters, including postural stability, gait speed, step length, and symmetry. Additionally, qualitative feedback will be gathered from participants regarding their experiences with the interventions. Statistical analysis will be conducted to compare the effectiveness of the two rehabilitation approaches and determine any significant differences in outcomes. The findings of this study are expected to contribute valuable insights into the potential benefits of VR technology in stroke rehabilitation. By evaluating the impact of VR-based interventions on balance and gait functions, healthcare providers and researchers can better understand the role of immersive technologies in enhancing rehabilitation outcomes for stroke survivors. The results may inform the development of more personalized and engaging rehabilitation programs tailored to individual patient needs. In conclusion, this comparative study aims to investigate the effectiveness of virtual reality rehabilitation in improving balance and gait in stroke patients. By exploring the outcomes of VR-based interventions alongside traditional physiotherapy approaches, this research seeks to advance knowledge in the field of stroke rehabilitation and provide evidence-based recommendations for optimizing patient outcomes and enhancing recovery in this population.
