Thesis Abstract

Abstract
This thesis investigates the effectiveness of virtual reality (VR) rehabilitation in enhancing balance and mobility among stroke survivors through a randomized controlled trial. Stroke survivors often face challenges in regaining balance and mobility, impacting their quality of life. Virtual reality technology has emerged as a promising tool in rehabilitation, offering interactive and engaging interventions. This study aims to assess the impact of VR rehabilitation on balance and mobility outcomes compared to traditional rehabilitation methods. The research design involves a randomized controlled trial with stroke survivors randomly assigned to either a VR rehabilitation group or a traditional rehabilitation group. The VR rehabilitation group will engage in immersive and interactive virtual environments designed to target balance and mobility, while the traditional group will receive conventional therapy. Outcome measures will include balance assessments, mobility tests, and patient-reported outcomes. The literature review provides a comprehensive examination of existing studies on VR rehabilitation in stroke recovery, highlighting the potential benefits and limitations of this innovative approach. The research methodology section outlines the study design, participant recruitment, intervention protocols, outcome measures, data analysis techniques, and ethical considerations. Findings from the study will be discussed in detail in the results chapter, comparing the effectiveness of VR rehabilitation to traditional methods in improving balance and mobility outcomes among stroke survivors. The analysis will consider factors such as adherence to treatment, participant engagement, and overall satisfaction with the interventions. In conclusion, this thesis aims to contribute to the growing body of evidence supporting the use of VR rehabilitation in stroke recovery. The results of this study may inform clinical practice by providing insights into the efficacy of VR interventions for enhancing balance and mobility outcomes in stroke survivors. This research has the potential to impact rehabilitation strategies and improve the quality of life for individuals recovering from stroke.
