Chronic pain is a prevalent and debilitating condition among older adults, often leading to reduced quality of life and functional limitations. Telehealth, as a remote healthcare delivery system, has emerged as a promising approach to enhance access to care and improve patient outcomes. This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of telehealth in managing chronic pain in older adults through a comparative analysis. The research will compare the outcomes of telehealth intervention with traditional in-person care to determine the impact on pain management, quality of life, and overall well-being in older adults. The study will be guided by a comprehensive review of the existing literature on chronic pain management, telehealth applications, and the specific needs of older adults. A mixed-methods research design will be employed, incorporating both quantitative and qualitative data collection methods. Quantitative data will be collected through surveys and assessments to measure pain levels, functional status, and patient satisfaction with telehealth services. Qualitative data will be gathered through interviews and focus groups to explore the experiences and perspectives of older adults receiving telehealth care for chronic pain. The research methodology will involve recruiting a sample of older adults with chronic pain from healthcare facilities and community settings. Participants will be divided into two groups, with one group receiving telehealth intervention and the other receiving traditional in-person care. Data collection will occur at multiple time points to assess changes in pain intensity, physical function, emotional well-being, and healthcare utilization between the two groups. The findings of this study are expected to provide valuable insights into the effectiveness of telehealth in managing chronic pain in older adults. By comparing the outcomes of telehealth intervention with traditional care, this research aims to identify the benefits and limitations of telehealth for this population. The results will contribute to the evidence base on telehealth applications in pain management and inform future healthcare practices for older adults with chronic pain. In conclusion, this study seeks to address the gap in knowledge regarding the use of telehealth for managing chronic pain in older adults. By examining the effectiveness of telehealth interventions and their impact on patient outcomes, this research aims to enhance the understanding of how telehealth can be integrated into pain management practices for older adults. Ultimately, the findings of this study have the potential to improve access to care, enhance patient outcomes, and optimize healthcare delivery for older adults living with chronic pain.
