Thesis Abstract

Abstract
Cancer remains a significant global health challenge, necessitating the development of innovative therapeutic strategies to improve outcomes for patients. One promising approach is the utilization of novel drug delivery systems for targeted cancer therapy. This thesis focuses on investigating and developing advanced drug delivery systems that can specifically target cancer cells while minimizing off-target effects, thereby enhancing treatment efficacy and reducing side effects. The research methodology involved a comprehensive literature review to understand the current landscape of drug delivery systems in cancer therapy. Various types of drug delivery systems, including nanoparticles, liposomes, and micelles, were reviewed to identify their potential advantages and limitations in targeted cancer therapy. Additionally, in vitro and in vivo experiments were conducted to evaluate the efficacy and safety of novel drug delivery systems in delivering anticancer agents to tumor cells. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research topic, outlining the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definition of key terms. Chapter Two presents a detailed literature review, examining ten key aspects related to drug delivery systems for targeted cancer therapy, including the challenges of conventional cancer treatment, the principles of targeted drug delivery, and the current trends in nanomedicine for cancer therapy. Chapter Three describes the research methodology, including the selection of anticancer agents, synthesis and characterization of drug delivery systems, in vitro cell culture experiments, in vivo animal studies, and data analysis methods. This chapter also discusses the ethical considerations and safety measures implemented throughout the research process. Chapter Four presents a comprehensive discussion of the research findings, highlighting the efficacy of novel drug delivery systems in targeting cancer cells, enhancing drug accumulation at the tumor site, and reducing systemic toxicity. The chapter also addresses the challenges encountered during the experimental studies and proposes potential solutions for future research. Finally, Chapter Five provides a conclusion and summary of the thesis, summarizing the key findings, implications for clinical practice, and recommendations for further research in the field of targeted cancer therapy using novel drug delivery systems. Overall, this thesis contributes to the advancement of personalized and effective cancer treatment strategies through the development of innovative drug delivery systems tailored to specific cancer types and patient needs.
