Thesis Abstract

Abstract
Breast cancer is a significant health concern globally, affecting millions of women each year. This research project aims to investigate the causes, management, and perception of breast cancer among female students of the Faculty of Social Sciences at Delta State University, Abraka. The study will employ a mixed-methods approach to gather both quantitative and qualitative data on the subject. The research will focus on identifying the factors contributing to the incidence of breast cancer among female students. This will involve studying lifestyle habits, genetic predisposition, environmental factors, and awareness levels regarding breast cancer risk factors. By understanding these causes, interventions can be developed to reduce the prevalence of breast cancer within this specific demographic. Furthermore, the project will explore the management of breast cancer among the female students. This includes examining their knowledge of available treatment options, access to healthcare services, and adherence to prescribed treatment plans. Understanding the challenges and barriers faced by these students in managing breast cancer is crucial for improving their overall health outcomes. In addition, the study will investigate the perception of breast cancer among female students in the Faculty of Social Sciences. This involves exploring their attitudes, beliefs, and emotional responses towards the disease. By assessing the perception of breast cancer, interventions can be tailored to address misconceptions, reduce stigma, and promote early detection practices among this population. The research findings will provide valuable insights into the specific needs and challenges faced by female students in relation to breast cancer. This information can be used to develop targeted educational programs, support services, and healthcare initiatives to improve breast cancer awareness, prevention, and management within the university community. Overall, this research project seeks to contribute to the existing knowledge base on breast cancer among female students in academic settings. By addressing the causes, management, and perception of breast cancer in this population, the study aims to empower female students to take control of their health, reduce their risk of developing breast cancer, and improve their overall well-being.
