The escalating global threat of antimicrobial resistance necessitates the implementation and assessment of effective antimicrobial stewardship programs (ASPs), particularly within community pharmacy settings where antibiotics are frequently dispensed. Despite widespread recognition of the importance of ASPs, there remains limited empirical evidence regarding their operational effectiveness, specific strategies, and impact on prescribing behaviors in community pharmacies. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of current ASPs implemented in community pharmacies, identifying factors that influence their success and areas requiring improvement. The primary objectives are to assess pharmacist knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to antimicrobial stewardship, measure changes in dispensing patterns pre- and post-ASP intervention, and explore the correlation between stewardship activities and antibiotic resistance trends within the community. A mixed-methods research design was adopted, combining quantitative and qualitative approaches to provide a comprehensive assessment. The quantitative component involved a cross-sectional survey administered to 250 licensed community pharmacists selected through stratified random sampling across urban and rural settings, ensuring diversity in practice environments.
