Thesis Abstract

The effective adoption of digital office technologies remains a significant challenge for modern workplaces, limiting organizational efficiency, competitiveness, and adaptability in an increasingly digital economy. Despite the proliferation of digital tools designed to streamline office operations, many organizations experience low adoption rates attributed to factors such as technological resistance, insufficient training, organizational culture, and perceived usefulness. This study aims to develop a comprehensive conceptual framework to enhance understanding and facilitate increased adoption of digital office technologies within diverse organizational contexts. The primary objectives are to identify critical determinants influencing adoption, explore the role of organizational and individual factors, and integrate these insights into a visualized model to guide practical interventions. The research adopts a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis techniques. The qualitative phase involves semi-structured interviews with 30 IT managers and organizational leaders across multi-sector organizations to gather insights into perceived barriers and enablers of technology adoption, with thematic analysis employed for data interpretation. The quantitative phase uses a cross-sectional survey administered to a stratified sample of 400 employees from 50 organizations representing various sectors, with a structured questionnaire measuring constructs derived from the theoretical framework. The survey data are analyzed through Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) using AMOS software to test relationships among variables, including perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, organizational support, user resistance, and technology self-efficacy. The study expects to identify key factors positively influencing digital office technology adoption, such as organizational readiness, training effectiveness, management support, and individual technological competence, while resistance and inadequate infrastructure are anticipated as significant barriers. The findings aim to reveal complex interdependencies among these variables, offering empirical validation of the proposed framework. The expected model will integrate insights from the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT), supplemented by organizational change theories, to comprehensively explain and predict adoption behaviors. This research contributes to existing knowledge by proposing a novel, context-specific conceptual framework that synthesizes individual, organizational, and technological dimensions, providing a practical tool for practitioners and policymakers to enhance digital technology uptake. Furthermore, it addresses gaps identified in prior studies related to the multifaceted nature of adoption processes in office environments and offers evidence-based strategies for overcoming resistance and fostering positive attitudes towards digital tools. The main conclusion underscores that successful adoption hinges on the convergence of user acceptance factors, organizational support mechanisms, and technological infrastructure. Based on the findings, it is recommended that organizations invest in targeted training programs, foster managerial advocacy, and develop clear communication strategies to increase perceived usefulness and ease of use. Additionally, establishing support structures to mitigate resistance and ensuring robust technical infrastructure are vital for sustainable adoption. The study suggests avenues for future research, including longitudinal investigations to assess adoption over time and contextual studies across different organizational sizes and cultures. Overall, the research advances theoretical understanding and offers actionable insights to promote more effective integration of digital office technologies, ultimately contributing to enhanced organizational agility and productivity in the digital age.
