Thesis Abstract

**Abstract
** The increasing prevalence of antimicrobial resistance poses a significant threat to public health worldwide, warranting the urgent exploration of alternative antimicrobial agents. Natural plant extracts have long been recognized for their potential antimicrobial properties, making them promising candidates for combating pathogenic bacteria. This study aimed to investigate the antimicrobial properties of various natural plant extracts against pathogenic bacteria. The research methodology involved the extraction of bioactive compounds from selected plants, followed by the determination of their antimicrobial activity through standard microbiological assays. A comprehensive literature review was conducted to provide a theoretical framework for the study, highlighting previous research on the antimicrobial properties of plant extracts and the mechanisms underlying their efficacy. The findings of the study revealed that several natural plant extracts exhibited potent antimicrobial activity against a range of pathogenic bacteria, including both Gram-positive and Gram-negative strains. The results indicated that the antimicrobial efficacy of plant extracts was attributed to the presence of bioactive compounds such as phenols, flavonoids, and alkaloids. Furthermore, the study identified specific plant extracts that demonstrated superior antimicrobial activity compared to conventional antibiotics. The discussion of the findings emphasized the potential of natural plant extracts as alternative antimicrobial agents, offering a sustainable and eco-friendly approach to combating antimicrobial resistance. The study also highlighted the importance of further research to elucidate the mechanisms of action of plant-derived compounds and optimize their antimicrobial efficacy. In conclusion, the investigation of the antimicrobial properties of natural plant extracts against pathogenic bacteria represents a promising avenue for the development of novel antimicrobial agents. This research contributes to the growing body of knowledge on natural antimicrobial compounds and underscores the significance of harnessing the therapeutic potential of plant extracts in the fight against antimicrobial resistance.
