Thesis Abstract
Abstract
Television has been a pervasive part of modern society for decades, and its impact on viewers, particularly the elderly population, is of increasing interest to researchers and policymakers. This research project aims to conduct an appraisal of the attitudes and behaviors of elderly people towards television programs. The study seeks to explore how elderly individuals perceive and interact with television content, considering factors such as genre preferences, viewing habits, and the influence of television on their daily lives. The research will employ both quantitative and qualitative methods to gather data on elderly individuals' attitudes towards television programs. Surveys and structured interviews will be used to collect information on the types of programs the elderly population prefers, the frequency of their television viewing, and the reasons behind their program choices. Additionally, focus groups will be conducted to delve deeper into the underlying motivations and behaviors related to television consumption among the elderly. One key aspect of the research will be to examine the impact of television programs on the well-being and social connectedness of elderly individuals. By understanding how television content influences their emotions, social interactions, and overall quality of life, this study aims to provide insights into the potential benefits or drawbacks of television viewing for the elderly population. The research will also investigate whether certain types of programs have a more significant impact on the attitudes and behaviors of elderly viewers, such as news programs, entertainment shows, or educational content. Furthermore, the study will explore the role of television in shaping the perceptions and attitudes of elderly individuals towards various societal issues and cultural representations. By analyzing how television programs portray topics such as aging, health, relationships, and diversity, this research aims to uncover the ways in which television influences the attitudes and beliefs of elderly viewers. Understanding these dynamics can have implications for media producers, policymakers, and healthcare providers seeking to cater to the needs and preferences of the elderly population. In conclusion, this research project will provide valuable insights into the attitudes and behaviors of elderly people towards television programs. By examining the preferences, viewing habits, and perceptions of television content among the elderly population, this study aims to shed light on the role of television in the lives of older individuals and its implications for their well-being and social connectedness.
