The rapid proliferation of digital technologies has transformed information management and access within library sciences, necessitating a thorough understanding of digital literacy skills among future library professionals across diverse national contexts. Despite the critical importance of digital literacy for effective participation in the global information society, there exists limited comparative data on the levels and determinants of these skills among library science students internationally. This study aims to conduct a comprehensive comparative analysis of digital literacy skills among library science students across five countries—United States, Nigeria, India, Germany, and Brazil—to identify patterns, disparities, and the contextual factors influencing digital competence. The specific objectives include (1) assessing the digital literacy levels of students in each country, (2) examining the influence of curriculum design, technological infrastructure, and socio-economic factors on students' digital skills, and (3) identifying best practices and challenges faced in developing digital literacy within library science education globally. Employing a cross-sectional quantitative research design, the study targets a total population of approximately 1,200 second-year library science students, with 240 participants sampled through stratified random sampling to ensure representation across the selected countries. Data collection instruments comprise a standardized digital literacy assessment adapted from the Digital Competence Framework (DigComp 2.1), complemented by a structured questionnaire capturing demographic data, perceived relevance of digital skills, and educational background variables.
