Thesis Abstract

Abstract
This research project aims to investigate the information needs of staff members who are involved in poverty alleviation efforts. Poverty remains a significant challenge globally, and various organizations and government agencies are actively working towards reducing and ultimately eradicating poverty. In this context, understanding the specific information needs of staff members directly engaged in poverty alleviation initiatives is crucial for enhancing their efficiency and effectiveness in addressing this complex issue. The research will employ a mixed-methods approach, combining both quantitative and qualitative data collection methods. Surveys will be distributed to staff members working in diverse organizations and sectors involved in poverty alleviation. These surveys will help identify the types of information sources staff members currently use, the challenges they face in accessing relevant information, and the information gaps that exist in their work. Additionally, in-depth interviews will be conducted with select staff members to gain a deeper understanding of their unique information requirements and experiences. The findings of this research are expected to provide valuable insights into the information needs of staff involved in poverty alleviation. By identifying the specific information sources and tools that are most useful to these individuals, organizations and agencies can tailor their information provision strategies to better support their staff members' work. Moreover, understanding the challenges and barriers staff face in accessing necessary information will enable stakeholders to implement targeted interventions to improve information access and availability. Ultimately, addressing the information needs of staff members involved in poverty alleviation can lead to more effective poverty reduction strategies and programs. By ensuring that staff have access to timely, accurate, and relevant information, they can make better-informed decisions, implement evidence-based interventions, and measure the impact of their work more effectively. This research project contributes to the ongoing efforts to combat poverty by highlighting the critical role that information plays in empowering staff members to drive positive change in the lives of individuals and communities affected by poverty.
