The increasing reliance on digital legal documentation has accentuated concerns over the authenticity, integrity, and security of legal records, thereby necessitating innovative technological solutions to address issues of forgery, tampering, and unauthorized alterations. This study explores the deployment of blockchain technology, specifically smart contracts, as a means to enhance the authenticity and trustworthiness of legal documents. The primary aim is to develop a comprehensive framework for implementing blockchain-based smart contracts within legal workflows to mitigate risks associated with document fraud and facilitate secure, tamper-proof legal transactions. To achieve this, the study sets out three specific objectives (1) to examine the current challenges in verifying legal document authenticity, (2) to evaluate the technical feasibility of blockchain-based smart contracts in legal environments, and (3) to propose a model for integrating smart contracts into existing legal document management systems. Employing a mixed-methods research design, the study combines qualitative interviews with legal practitioners, informaticians, and blockchain experts (sample size of 30 respondents, purposively selected) to gather in-depth insights into current practices and perceptions.
