This thesis examines the critical role of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in conflict resolution and peacebuilding efforts within developing countries. The research delves into the significance of NGOs as key actors in addressing conflicts and fostering sustainable peace in regions plagued by instability and violence. Through a comprehensive literature review, this study analyzes the various strategies, approaches, and challenges faced by NGOs in their peacebuilding initiatives. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research topic, outlining the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definition of key terms. The chapter sets the foundation for understanding the role of NGOs in conflict resolution and peacebuilding. Chapter Two presents a thorough literature review consisting of ten key areas related to the involvement of NGOs in conflict resolution and peacebuilding. This chapter synthesizes existing knowledge and provides a theoretical framework for analyzing the effectiveness of NGO interventions in promoting peace and stability. Chapter Three focuses on the research methodology employed in this study, detailing the research design, data collection methods, sampling technique, data analysis procedures, and ethical considerations.
