Thesis Abstract

Abstract
This thesis investigates the effects of a plant-based diet on cardiovascular health in young adults. With the rising prevalence of cardiovascular diseases among young individuals, there is a growing interest in exploring dietary interventions to improve heart health. The plant-based diet has gained popularity for its potential benefits in reducing the risk factors associated with cardiovascular diseases. This study aims to assess the impact of transitioning to a plant-based diet on various cardiovascular health markers in young adults. The research begins with a comprehensive review of the literature on the relationship between diet and cardiovascular health. The literature review examines the mechanisms through which a plant-based diet may influence cardiovascular risk factors such as blood pressure, cholesterol levels, inflammation, and oxidative stress. It also explores the potential benefits of plant-based diets in preventing and managing cardiovascular diseases. The methodology chapter outlines the research design, participant recruitment, data collection methods, and statistical analysis techniques used in this study. A sample of young adults will be recruited and assessed before and after adopting a plant-based diet. Various cardiovascular markers, including blood pressure, lipid profiles, and inflammatory markers, will be measured to evaluate the impact of the dietary intervention. The findings chapter presents the results of the study, detailing the changes observed in cardiovascular health markers following the adoption of a plant-based diet. The discussion section interprets the findings in the context of existing literature and provides insights into the potential mechanisms underlying the observed effects of a plant-based diet on cardiovascular health in young adults. In conclusion, this thesis contributes to the growing body of evidence supporting the benefits of a plant-based diet in promoting cardiovascular health among young adults. The findings highlight the potential of dietary interventions as a preventive strategy for reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases in this population. The implications of these results for public health interventions and clinical practice are discussed, emphasizing the importance of promoting plant-based dietary patterns for cardiovascular disease prevention. Keywords plant-based diet, cardiovascular health, young adults, risk factors, prevention
