Urban and rural populations often exhibit significant differences in dietary behaviors and nutritional outcomes, influenced by disparities in food availability, SES, cultural practices, and lifestyle factors. Despite the growing recognition of these disparities, limited comprehensive comparative studies have been conducted to elucidate the specific variations in dietary patterns and nutritional statuses between urban and rural adult populations, particularly within the context of socio-economic transitions and modernization. This study aims to systematically analyze and compare the dietary patterns and nutritional status of adults residing in urban and rural settings, with a focus on identifying contributing factors and health implications. The specific objectives are to (1) characterize the predominant dietary patterns in urban and rural adults, (2) assess and compare their nutritional statuses using anthropometric and biochemical indicators, (3) investigate socio-economic and lifestyle determinants influencing dietary choices and nutritional outcomes, and (4) explore the relationship between dietary patterns and nutritional status within each setting. Employing a cross-sectional research design, the study targets a total population of 1,200 adults aged 20-60 years, equally divided between urban and rural areas within a defined geographic region. Stratified random sampling will be used to select participants, ensuring proportional representation of age, gender, and socio-economic status. Data collection instruments include validated semi-structured dietary recall questionnaires, Food Frequency Questionnaires (FFQ), anthropometric measurement tools, and biochemical analysis kits for serum nutrient assessments.
