The study employs a multidisciplinary approach, drawing on insights from history, anthropology, and cultural studies to analyze the complex dynamics of cultural transformation and preservation in the post-colonial era. The introductory chapter sets the stage for the research by providing a comprehensive overview of the background, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definition of terms. This chapter establishes the context for the comparative study of colonial impact on indigenous cultures in Nigeria and India. Chapter two presents an extensive literature review that critically examines existing scholarship on the effects of colonialism on indigenous cultures.
