Abstract
This research project provides a comprehensive exploration of the history of international criminal tribunals, tracing their evolution from the post-World War II era to the present day. Through an extensive literature review, the project examines the establishment, jurisdiction, and achievements of key international tribunals, including the Nuremberg and Tokyo Trials, the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR), and the International Criminal Court (ICC). The research methodology incorporates archival research, case analysis, and comparative legal studies to assess the effectiveness and challenges faced by international criminal justice mechanisms. The study aims to contribute to scholarly understanding of the role of international tribunals in promoting accountability, justice, and reconciliation in the aftermath of mass atrocities.
