Thesis Abstract

Abstract
The Arab-Israeli conflict has been a central issue in the Middle East for decades, with deep-rooted historical, religious, and territorial disputes between the Arab states and Israel. The United States has played a significant role in this conflict due to its geo-strategic and economic interests in the region. This research paper aims to analyze the complex interplay between the Arab-Israeli conflict and the United States' strategic and economic objectives in the Middle East. The United States has maintained a close relationship with Israel since its establishment in 1948, providing military aid, political support, and diplomatic protection. This alliance has been driven by various factors, including shared democratic values, security concerns, and historical guilt over the Holocaust. In contrast, the U.S. has also sought to maintain relations with Arab states to secure access to oil resources, promote regional stability, and counter Soviet influence during the Cold War. The Arab-Israeli conflict has posed challenges to U.S. interests in the Middle East, as it has fueled anti-American sentiment, strained relations with Arab allies, and hindered efforts to promote peace and stability in the region. The U.S. has often found itself in a delicate balancing act, trying to support Israel while also engaging with Arab states to advance its broader strategic objectives. Economically, the United States has sought to ensure stable energy supplies from the Middle East to fuel its economy and support global trade. The Arab-Israeli conflict has at times disrupted oil production and transportation routes, leading to price spikes and supply disruptions that have impacted the U.S. and global economy. The U.S. has therefore sought to mediate conflicts in the region to safeguard its economic interests and prevent disruptions to the energy markets. In conclusion, the Arab-Israeli conflict remains a critical issue in the Middle East with far-reaching implications for regional stability and U.S. interests. The United States has sought to navigate this complex landscape by supporting Israel, engaging with Arab states, and promoting peace initiatives to advance its strategic and economic objectives in the region. Efforts to resolve the conflict and promote cooperation between the parties remain essential for advancing U.S. interests and fostering peace and prosperity in the Middle East.
