Growth and development of mushin local government area of lagos state (1976-2013)

Thesis Abstract

This study aims to examine the growth and development of Mushin Local Government Area of Lagos State from 1976 to 2013. Mushin is one of the prominent Local Government Areas in Lagos State, Nigeria, with a rich historical background. The period from 1976 to 2013 saw significant changes and developments in various aspects of the local government area, including infrastructure, population, economy, and social amenities. The research will employ a mixed-method approach, combining both quantitative and qualitative methods to gather and analyze data. Quantitative data will be collected through surveys, questionnaires, and statistical records to assess population growth, infrastructure development, economic activities, and other relevant indicators. On the other hand, qualitative data will be obtained through interviews, focus group discussions, and document analysis to gain insights into the socio-economic dynamics and developmental challenges faced by the local government area. The study will explore the factors that have contributed to the growth and development of Mushin Local Government Area during the period under review. It will investigate the role of government policies, community initiatives, infrastructure projects, and other interventions in shaping the socio-economic landscape of the area. Additionally, the research will analyze the impact of population growth, urbanization, and migration on the development trajectory of Mushin. Furthermore, the study will assess the challenges and constraints that have hindered the growth and development of Mushin Local Government Area. This includes issues such as inadequate infrastructure, environmental degradation, social unrest, and economic disparities within the community. By identifying these challenges, the research aims to provide recommendations for sustainable development strategies that can address the needs and aspirations of the residents of Mushin. In conclusion, this research project will contribute to the existing body of knowledge on the growth and development of local government areas in Nigeria, with a specific focus on Mushin Local Government Area of Lagos State. The findings of the study are expected to inform policymakers, urban planners, community leaders, and other stakeholders on strategies to promote inclusive and sustainable development in Mushin and similar urban areas.
