According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the number of overweight or obese children under the age of five worldwide increased from 32 million in 1990 to 41 million in 2016 (WHO, 2021). Sedentary behaviors, such as excessive screen time and lack of physical activity, have been linked to various health problems, including obesity, cardiovascular disease, and mental health issues (CDC, 2022).</p><p>Schools play a crucial role in promoting healthy behaviors among children, as they provide structured environments for learning and physical activity. Physical education (PE) programs are an essential component of school curricula, offering opportunities for students to engage in physical activity, develop motor skills, and learn about healthy lifestyles. However, the effectiveness of PE curricula in fostering long-term healthy behaviors among students remains a topic of ongoing research and debate.</p><p>Significance of the Study This study aims to contribute to the understanding of the impact of PE curricula on promoting healthy lifestyle behaviors among elementary school children. By evaluating the effectiveness of an enhanced PE curriculum that incorporates physical activity, nutrition education, and behavioral interventions, the research will provide valuable insights into strategies for fostering positive health behaviors in children.</p><p>The findings of this study have the potential to inform the development and implementation of school-based interventions aimed at combating childhood obesity and sedentary lifestyles. By identifying the key components of an effective PE curriculum, educators and policymakers can make informed decisions about curriculum design and resource allocation to support the promotion of healthy behaviors among students.</p><p>Research Objectives The primary objectives of this study are:</p><ol><li>To evaluate the impact of an enhanced PE curriculum on physical activity levels, dietary habits, and attitudes towards health and well-being among elementary school children.</li><li>To compare the effectiveness of the enhanced PE curriculum with the standard curriculum in promoting healthy lifestyle behaviors.</li><li>To explore the perceptions and experiences of students, teachers, and parents regarding the implementation and effectiveness of the enhanced PE curriculum.</li><li>To identify potential barriers and facilitators to the successful implementation of an enhanced PE curriculum in elementary schools.</li></ol><p><br></p> <br><p></p>
