Thesis Abstract

Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the impact of High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) on cardiovascular health in college students. Cardiovascular diseases are a major concern globally, and engaging in regular physical activity is known to be beneficial for cardiovascular health. HIIT has gained popularity in recent years for its time-efficient nature and potential health benefits. However, limited research has focused on its specific impact on cardiovascular health in college students. The study utilized a mixed-methods approach, including quantitative measurements of cardiovascular health indicators such as blood pressure, heart rate, and cholesterol levels, as well as qualitative data from participant interviews to gain insights into their experiences with HIIT. A sample of college students aged 18-25 years participated in a 12-week HIIT program, consisting of high-intensity exercise intervals alternated with periods of rest or lower-intensity exercise. The findings revealed significant improvements in cardiovascular health indicators among participants after the 12-week HIIT program. Blood pressure and heart rate were found to decrease, while beneficial changes in cholesterol levels were observed. Additionally, participants reported positive experiences with the HIIT program, citing improved fitness levels, energy levels, and overall well-being. The study contributes to the existing literature by providing empirical evidence of the positive impact of HIIT on cardiovascular health in college students. The findings highlight the importance of incorporating HIIT into college fitness programs to promote cardiovascular health among young adults. Recommendations for future research include exploring the long-term effects of HIIT on cardiovascular health and investigating potential barriers to participation in HIIT programs among college students. In conclusion, this study demonstrates that High-Intensity Interval Training can be an effective intervention for improving cardiovascular health in college students. The findings underscore the importance of regular physical activity, such as HIIT, in promoting overall health and well-being among young adults. Further research in this area can contribute to the development of targeted interventions to address cardiovascular health issues in college populations.
