This study addresses the escalating need to understand how physical activity can cultivate adaptive stress resilience among youth within school and community contexts, by developing a coherent framework that integrates physical, psychological, and social mechanisms. The aim is to construct and validate a theoretical framework—the Adaptive Physical Activity Stress Resilience (APASR) framework—that explicates how structured and unstructured physical activity, when embedded within sport, play, and daily movement, fosters resilience to stress through interconnected pathways involving physiological regulation, cognitive appraisal, emotional regulation, social support, and self-determined motivation.
