Thesis Abstract

Abstract
This thesis investigates the impact of mindfulness-based interventions on reducing stress and anxiety levels among college students through a comparative study. The prevalence of stress and anxiety among college students has been a growing concern, affecting their academic performance, mental health, and overall well-being. Mindfulness-based interventions have gained recognition as effective approaches to address these issues by promoting self-awareness, emotional regulation, and stress reduction. This study aims to compare the effectiveness of different mindfulness-based interventions in reducing stress and anxiety levels among college students, providing valuable insights into the most beneficial approaches for this population. The research methodology involves a quantitative comparative design, utilizing pre- and post-intervention measurements to assess changes in stress and anxiety levels among participants. A sample of college students will be randomly assigned to different mindfulness-based intervention groups, such as mindfulness meditation, mindful breathing exercises, and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy. Data will be collected through standardized self-report measures, including the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) and the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), before and after the intervention period. Statistical analysis, including t-tests and ANOVA, will be used to analyze the data and compare the effectiveness of the different interventions. The findings from this study are expected to contribute to the existing literature on mindfulness-based interventions and their impact on stress and anxiety reduction among college students. The results will provide valuable insights into the effectiveness of specific mindfulness techniques in addressing these mental health challenges, helping to inform future interventions and support programs in educational settings. By understanding the potential benefits of mindfulness practices, colleges and universities can better support the mental health and well-being of their students, ultimately enhancing academic success and overall quality of life.
