Thesis Abstract

Abstract
The prevalence of stress among college students and its detrimental effects on mental health have become a growing concern in educational settings. This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of mindfulness-based interventions in reducing stress and improving mental health among college students through a randomized controlled trial. Mindfulness-based interventions have gained popularity in recent years for their potential to enhance well-being and reduce psychological distress. This research will contribute to the existing body of knowledge by providing empirical evidence on the efficacy of mindfulness-based interventions specifically tailored for college students. The study will be conducted using a randomized controlled trial design, with participants randomly assigned to either the intervention group receiving mindfulness-based interventions or the control group receiving standard care. A sample of college students will be recruited from a local educational institution, with measures of stress, anxiety, depression, and overall mental health assessed at baseline, post-intervention, and follow-up time points. The interventions will be delivered by trained facilitators and will include mindfulness meditation, breathing exercises, and psychoeducation on stress management techniques. The primary outcomes of interest will be the changes in stress levels and mental health indicators between the intervention and control groups. Secondary outcomes will include improvements in anxiety and depression symptoms. Data analysis will involve statistical methods such as ANOVA and regression analysis to compare the outcomes between groups and explore potential moderators and mediators of intervention effects. The findings of this study are expected to provide valuable insights into the effectiveness of mindfulness-based interventions in reducing stress and improving mental health among college students. By identifying effective strategies for promoting well-being in this population, educational institutions can implement targeted interventions to support the mental health needs of their students. Ultimately, this research has the potential to inform evidence-based practices in college counseling and contribute to the broader field of mental health promotion. Keywords mindfulness-based interventions, stress reduction, mental health, college students, randomized controlled trial, well-being, anxiety, depression.
