Abstract
This research project aims to explore the patterns of contraceptive use among female students in university settings. The study will investigate the prevalence of contraceptive use, the types of contraceptives commonly used, factors influencing contraceptive decision-making, and the knowledge and attitudes towards contraception among female students. A mixed-methods approach will be employed, including surveys to gather quantitative data on contraceptive use and qualitative interviews to delve deeper into the reasons behind contraceptive choices. The research will be conducted at a large university, with a sample size of female students from various disciplines and academic levels. The survey will assess the prevalence of contraceptive use, the types of contraceptives used (such as pills, condoms, intrauterine devices), and the sources of contraceptive information. Additionally, the survey will explore the factors influencing contraceptive decision-making, including personal beliefs, cultural norms, peer influences, and access to contraceptive services. Qualitative interviews will be conducted with a subset of female students to provide more in-depth insights into their experiences with contraception. The interviews will explore the knowledge and attitudes towards contraception, the reasons for choosing a specific contraceptive method, challenges faced in accessing contraceptives, and suggestions for improving contraceptive services on campus. The findings of this research project will contribute to a better understanding of contraceptive use among female students in university settings. By identifying the prevalent patterns of contraceptive use and the factors influencing decision-making, the study aims to inform interventions and policies to promote safe and effective contraceptive practices among this population. The research findings may also highlight areas for improvement in contraceptive education and access to services on university campuses. Overall, this research project addresses an important gap in the current literature on contraceptive use among female students in university settings. By combining quantitative data on contraceptive prevalence with qualitative insights into decision-making processes, the study offers a comprehensive analysis of the factors shaping contraceptive practices in this population. The results of this research have the potential to inform strategies for promoting reproductive health and well-being among female students in higher education institutions.
