This study addresses the escalating challenge of academic adversity and its detrimental impact on student well-being, engagement, and academic persistence, by developing a resilience-focused counseling framework to facilitate recovery and sustained scholastic achievement. The aim is to articulate a theoretically grounded, practically implementable framework that integrates resilience theory, cognitive-behavioral strategies, and strengths-based counseling to support students facing academic setbacks such as provisional failure, high-stakes assessment anxiety, and chronic underperformance. Specific objectives are (1) to elucidate contextual factors contributing to academic adversity among undergraduate and postgraduate students; (2) to identify resilience processes and coping strategies associated with successful recovery; (3) to construct a multi-component counseling framework outlining assessment, intervention modules, and outcomes; (4) to examine the framework’s feasibility and acceptability in university counseling settings; and (5) to propose evaluative indicators and implementation guidelines for scalability across higher education contexts. The study adopts a sequential explanatory mixed-methods design, beginning with a quantitative phase involving a cross-sectional survey of 500 students from four universities to assess resilience resources (Connor–Davidson Resilience Scale), academic self-efficacy (Academic Self-Efficacy Scale), perceived social support (Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support), and indicators of academic distress (Student Distress Inventory). Practically, the framework will offer a scalable, modular intervention protocol adaptable to diverse university settings, accompanied by an implementation guide, training requirements for counselors, and an outcome dashboard for routine evaluation. The main conclusion anticipated is that an integrated resilience-based approach, combining assessment, targeted interventions, and ongoing monitoring, yields meaningful improvements in students’ academic self-efficacy, persistence, and well-being following adversity. Recommendations will emphasize incorporating resilience screening into standard student services, embedding brief, modular counseling within academic support programs, fostering peer-support networks, and conducting longitudinal evaluation to track long-term effects on degree completion and professional success. Limitations include potential self-report biases and the need for longitudinal data to confirm sustained gains; future research should investigate cross-cultural applicability and the framework’s effectiveness across varied disciplines and degree levels.
