Thesis Abstract

Abstract
Overpopulation is a critical issue facing the College of Education, Ekiadolor-Benin, as the institution struggles to accommodate the growing number of students within its limited resources. This research project aims to identify and analyze the problems associated with overpopulation in the college, focusing on the impacts on infrastructure, resources, academic quality, and overall student experience. The study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative data analysis with qualitative interviews and surveys to gain a comprehensive understanding of the challenges posed by overpopulation. Initial findings indicate that the college is operating well beyond its intended capacity, leading to overcrowded classrooms, strained facilities, and increased pressure on faculty members. Furthermore, the lack of adequate resources, such as textbooks, laboratory equipment, and library materials, hinders the quality of education delivered to students. This scarcity not only affects academic performance but also limits students' ability to engage effectively with the curriculum and develop essential skills. In addition, overpopulation contributes to a decrease in the overall student experience, as students face challenges in accessing support services, extracurricular activities, and personalized attention from instructors. This can lead to feelings of alienation, disengagement, and a lack of belonging within the college community. The research also explores the implications of overpopulation on the institution's reputation, accreditation status, and long-term sustainability. By shedding light on these issues, the study aims to provide valuable insights for college administrators, policymakers, and stakeholders to develop effective strategies for addressing overpopulation and improving the learning environment at the College of Education, Ekiadolor-Benin. Overall, this research project highlights the urgent need for proactive measures to manage overpopulation in higher education institutions like the College of Education, Ekiadolor-Benin. By addressing the problems associated with overcrowding, the college can enhance its academic standards, student support services, and overall institutional effectiveness. This, in turn, will contribute to a more enriching and fulfilling educational experience for students and foster a conducive learning environment for all members of the college community.
