Thesis Abstract

Abstract

This study examines the various environmental impacts that result from warfare, armed conflict, and peacetime military activities. It explores how military operations can damage ecosystems and natural resources through pollution, destruction of habitat, and disruption of ecological processes. Specific issues that are investigated include chemical and radioactive contamination of land and water, depletion of non-renewable resources, loss of biodiversity, and climate impacts. The project aims to document examples of environmental damage caused by past and present conflicts to increase awareness of the unintended "collateral damage" inflicted on the environment during times of war and militarization.
