Abstract
This project examines the environmental impacts of activities carried out by nonprofit organizations and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). It analyzes how factors like transportation, energy and resource use, waste generation, procurement practices, office operations, events and programming, volunteer engagement, grants and funding, partnerships, and communications/outreach can affect the environment. The goal is to understand how NGOs both positively and negatively impact the environment through their work, and identify opportunities for greening operations and integrating sustainability. Recommendations are provided for NGOs seeking to measure, reduce and mitigate their environmental footprint.
