Abstract
The toy and game industry produces billions of products each year that are designed for entertainment and play. However, little research has explored the various environmental impacts associated with different practices across the toy and game industry lifecycle from material extraction, manufacturing, distribution, product use, and end-of-life. This study aims to analyze the environmental footprint of common toy and game industry practices and identify opportunities to reduce negative impacts. Key areas of focus will include material sourcing and content, manufacturing processes, packaging, transportation and logistics, product durability and reuse potential, and end-of-life management. The results seek to raise awareness of sustainability issues in this sector and recommend practices to lessen environmental impacts without compromising on safety, quality or affordability for consumers.
