Abstract
This study examines the presence and impacts of microplastic pollution in [Name] Creek, which flows through [City/Town Name]. Microplastic particles less than 5mm in size enter waterways from a variety of sources including clothing, personal care products, and tire and road wear. Samples were collected from three sites along the creek and analyzed to determine microplastic concentrations. Common plastic polymers were identified. Effects on aquatic invertebrates were also studied by exposing organisms to microplastics in lab conditions. The results of this study provide baseline data on microplastic levels in the creek and insight into potential negative consequences for the local ecosystem.
