Abstract
This study examines the environmental impacts of operations and activities carried out by nonprofit organizations and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). It analyzes key areas where nonprofits and NGOs interact with the natural environment, including facilities management, transportation, waste generation, procurement, programming, and advocacy efforts. Through a review of relevant literature and case studies of local organizations, the research aims to identify best practices for minimizing environmental footprints as well as opportunities for nonprofits to support wider sustainability goals through their missions and work. The results seek to provide nonprofits with recommendations for greening their operations and leveraging environmental considerations into strategic planning.
