Abstract

This project examines the various environmental impacts associated with different practices within the apparel and textile industry. It analyzes impacts from fiber production, textile manufacturing, garment assembly, distribution and transportation, consumer use, and end of life management. Key impacts explored include greenhouse gas emissions, water and chemical pollution, waste generation, resource depletion, and effects on biodiversity. Alternative more sustainable practices are identified and their potential environmental benefits evaluated. The goal is to better understand how the apparel industry's activities impact the environment and identify opportunities for improved stewardship.
